Rouhani: Any airstrike on a sovereign country should be authorized by the country’s officials or the Security Council

New York, SANA – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani criticized the U.S. and its allies’ airstrikes on positions of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the Syrian territories as they were not as they were not authorized by Syria or permitted by the UN Security Council.

Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Rouhani as saying that the Syrian government and people want to be rid of terrorism because they have suffered the most from the action of these terrorist organizations.

The U.S. raids on ISIS in Iraq were demanded by the Iraqi government. Syria has not made such request.
