Mogherini: Turkish aggression may undermine political efforts to solve crisis in Syria

Brussels, SANA – High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini expressed deep concern over the Turkish aggression on Afrin, warning that this move might undermine the political process in Geneva to solve the crisis in Syria.

In a statement to journalists after wrapping up activities of the EU foreign ministers’ council in Brussels, Mogherini expressed concerns over latest developments in the Syrian city of Afrin for two reasons, the first of which is related to the humanitarian situation and the need to ensure delivering humanitarian aid to civilians.

She added that the second reason is that any military operation of such kind in Syria might undermine the political talks in Geneva.
