Israeli occupation forces assault journalists in Al-Quds during protest against Trump’s announcement

Occupied Al-Quds, SANA – The Israeli occupation forces assaulted journalists and fired stun grenades and tear gas at them during their coverage of a demonstration in Salah al-Deen Street in Al-Quds (Jerusalem) in which participants were protesting against U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that the US will recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

According the Palestine’s Ma’an News Agency, members of the Israeli occupation forces and cavalry units attacked Palestinian protesters and fired tear gas and stun grenades at news crews.

As a result, one reporter from RT was injured by shrapnel in her hand while covering the situation in the city, and a photographer from Ma’an was also beaten during his coverage of the demonstration. The Israeli forces also prevented them from continuing to film, and prevented paramedics from rendering aid to the injured.

The occupation forces imposed a curfew in the city of al-Khalil, forcing people to close their shops, prevented media outlets from covering the latest developments there, and deployed large numbers of troops throughout the city.
