Syrian cartoonist Raed Khalil wins 2018 World Cup prize

Damascus, SANA – Syrian cartoonist Raed Khalil won a prize of the Swiss football magazine “Tschutti heftli” in its illustration competition for its 2018 football album.

Since 2008, the magazine has been publishing a sticker album with football teams designed by illustrators, graphic designers, cartoonists and other artists.

Tschutti heftli is hosting its illustration competition for the sixth time, and this year, it is taking care of the artistic highlight of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Khalil’s sticker was chosen as the winner out of 523 stickers sketching a portrait of the great Argentine footballer.

The winners will design one of the teams of the 2018 World Cup with the coaches and logos. The magazine’s album will be distributed in Switzerland, Germany, and further mainly European countries and at the opening of the 2018 World Cup.

The artists will receive a lump sum for their expenses. Best works will be awarded cash prizes totaling 5,000 Swiss Francs (approx. 4,600 Euros).

Last Month, Khalil won the 3rd International Award at the 7th De Geus International Competition in Belgium.

Cartoonist Khalil was born in 1973. He works at al-Baath newspaper and at the Syrian TV. He has participated in many international exhibitions and won a number of international awards.
