Mikdad to Krahenbuhl: Calls for changing Palestinian curricula part of Israeli efforts to liquidate Palestinian cause

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad met on Sunday Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Pierre Krahenbuhl and the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Mikdad reviewed the delegation on the continued cooperation between Syria and UNRWA in order to improve the living conditions of the Palestinian refugees in Syria and means to enhance this cooperation.

Mikdad reiterated the firm position of the Syrian state in supporting the Palestinian cause and implementing international resolutions in this regard and guaranteeing the rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to return and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

He stressed Syria’s support for not changing the curricula that are being taught to the Palestinians, especially in the occupied territories, noting that this attempted change is prompted by pressure exerted by some Western countries in line with the Israeli pressure and is aimed at stopping teaching the causes of the Palestinian Nakba and the responsibility of Zionism for it, considering that these calls for changing the curricula come within Israel’s efforts to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

In turn, Krahenbuhl said his visit to Syria is part of the continued communication with the Syrian government and to exchange views between the two sides to improve cooperation in providing services to the Palestine refugees in Syria.

He hailed the efforts exerted by the Syrian government in protecting the Palestinian refugees, improving their livelihood conditions and continuing to deliver humanitarian aid to them despite the crisis facing Syria and the threats posed to their camps.
