Israeli occupation authorities postpone trial of Syrian prisoner al-Maqt till March 28th

Quneitra/ Damascus, SANA – The Israeli occupation authorities postponed the trial of Syrian prisoner Sedqi al-Maqt till March the 28th in another discriminatory practice against the people of the occupied Syrian Golan.

Speaking at the court, Al-Maqt reiterated his adherence to the Syrian national principles, affirming that the Syrian Arab Golan will ever remain Arab and Syrian and will return to the homeland Syria and the people of occupied Golan will never give up their Syrian identity.

He stressed that Syria will achieve victory thanks to the sacrifices of its army and the steadfastness of its leadership and people in the face of takfiri terrorism.

In a statement to SANA, al-Maqt’s brother Bishr Suleiman al-Maqt who was liberated from the Israeli prisons condemned the Israeli trials as illegal and show trials, adding that the charges against his brother are fabricated, politicized and serve Israeli practices in support to terrorism.

He noted that his brother’s audio and photo-documentation of close cooperation and coordination between the Zionist entity and the terrorist organizations complies with the international laws and resolution on counterterrorism.

In the same context, the Committee for Supporting Liberated and Detained Syrian Prisoners in the Israeli Jails organized a solidarity stand in front of the International Committee of Red Cross headquarters in Damascus, calling on international organizations to put pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to release al-Maqt and all the Syrian prisoners.

In August 2012, the Israeli occupation authorities released Sedqi al-Maqet following 27 years in continuous imprisonment in the Israeli jails, only to re-arrest him on February 25th after storming his family’s home, messing with its contents and seizing mobile phones and a computer without any justification for such blatant assault.
