Damascus, SANA- Minister of Water Resources in the caretaker government, Eng. Osama Abu Zeid, discussed with a delegation from Shafak Humanitarian Organization ways of enhancing joint cooperation to secure the necessary needs for the water sector.
During the meeting held Monday at the ministry building in Damascus, the challenges facing the water resources sector were reviewed, especially the dilapidated infrastructure, lack of available resources and the absence of an electrical power source feeding the stations, in addition to the lack of fuel.
Minister Abu Zeid confirmed to SANA that the ministry is making great efforts to improve the water situation and confront the obstacles facing the drinking water sector in all provinces, noting that the priority at this stage is for the areas that had been damaged by the war.
For his part, Executive Director of Shafak Organization, Dr. Aref Razouk, said that this meeting comes within the framework of assessing needs and starting to develop strategic plans to advance the water resources sector.
He expressed the organization’s readiness to provide support at all levels, and increase cooperation to confront challenges according to the order of priorities.
