Al-Jaafari: Army’s victories a strong political support to government’s delegation to intra-Syrian dialogue in Geneva

Damascus, SANA- Victories of the Syrian Arab Army have been a strong and direct political and diplomatic motive for the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Intra-Syrian dialogue in Geneva, Head of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar al-Jaafari said.

In an interview with the Syrian TV on Sunday evening, al-Jaafari added we predicted the victory of Palmyra a day before returning back from Geneva, and I said this to some Western figures I met.

” We predicted Palmyra victory a day before we returned home from Geneva and I told this to some Western personalities I have met…our readings about events were proved to be right and this left an important psychological impact on our enemies and adversaries in Geneva,”al-Jaafari said.

He added that the delegation of the Syrian government showed discipline and worked to make the dialogue a success and preserve Syria but the other side was embarrassed and not ready.

We have not seen one delegation of the opposition as stipulated in UN resolution 2254 rather there were some oppositions committed to foreign agendas aimed at destroying the country; there are respectable national opposition but they are few, al-Jaafari said.

He clarified that prior to each round of dialogue there were feverish and desperate attempts by some parties to belittle victories of our brave army against terrorists.

“The delegation of the Syrian government, during its first meeting with UN Special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, took the lead and presented a paper entitled main elements for the political solution and finding common denominators with the oppositions in Geneva to encourage them towards the national solution,” al-Jaafari clarified.

He said: ” de Mistura praised the principles mentioned in the paper and stressed that they can’t be ignored. Diplomatic figures praised our seriousness while the opposition delegations were not ready and it took 10 days to submit their paper in cooperation with dozens of committees and British, American, French and German experts,”

Al-Jaafari affirmed that Syria is the “gate of fighting terrorism” and many westerners became convinced with dangers of tens of thousands of foreign terrorists who were brought to Syria through the borders with Turkey and Jordan under the supervision of many countries’ intelligence apparatus .”

” There is a consensus and rapprochement between Russia and the United States despite differences
regarding some issues”, al-Jaafari stated, pointing out that Russia has a long-term political vision and is able to conduct dialogue with all, while Washington depends on incorrect reports issued by the Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel,
Turkey and NATO.

He added that Europeans don’t mind to reopen their embassies in Damascus, but we “reject any conditions or blackmail by them in this regard.”

Al-Jafaari stressed that we in Syria, are studying de Mistura’ s explanatory note to respond it in the next round of talks.

He clarified that the submitted paper of the government’s delegation emphasized the importance of preserving the government’s establishments and the army is one these establishments .

Al-Jaafari said that next round of the intra-Syrian dialogue will be set through the diplomatic channels as it was agreed upon with de Mistura.

Al-Jaafari added that de Mistura formed the Women Consultative Council”, which contains 12 women, only two of them were from Syria, without consulting with anyone.

He mentioned that the dialogue is targeted by the Saudi, Turkish and Qatari diplomacy because they don’t want a peaceful and political solution in Syria and they are able to fabricate stories that somehow impede the dialogue such as the federalism and other stories .
