Syrian Civil Defense, Qatar’s “Lekhwiya” rescue team sign partnership agreement

Damascus, SANA- The Syrian Civil Defense Organization or “White Helmets”, and Qatar’s “Lekhwiya” rescue team have signed a partnership agreement aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Syrian rescue teams.

The agreement stipulates for specialized training in disaster management and the provision of advanced search and rescue equipment.

“This partnership is expected to create highly skilled teams capable of responding to international emergencies. Challenges faced by the Syrian Civil Defense, such as maintaining equipment, will be also addressed through this collaboration,” Head of Syrian Civil Defense Organization, Raed al-Saleh said during a press conference following the signing of the agreement.

Khaled Abdullah al-Hamidi, Director of the Qatari rescue team said that the training and preparation will include various stages, till the formation of teams that keep pace with international standards.

He added that there is a plan to provide the Syrian Civil Defense with specialized vehicles for rescue and firefighting.

He noted that that contacts will continue between the two parties to follow up on the work and cooperation.
