Captagon shipments prepared for export through Lattakia port uncovered

Damascus, SANA- After monitoring and follow-up, the Anti-Narcotics Department was able to obtain information indicating the presence of shipments of Captagon pills prepared for export through Lattakia port to several Arab and Western countries, the Media Office at the Interior Ministry has revealed.

It added” After conducting the necessary investigations, the locations of the hidden shipments were identified in warehouses near Lattakia port, which were owned by the fugitive criminal Maher al-Assad.”

The Media Office noted that the operations resulted in the discovery of large quantities of Captagon pills and “narcotic powder”, which were packed inside children’s toys, which reflects the seriousness of these operations and the smuggling methods used.

It continued that “The number of pills prepared for export is estimated at about 100 million pills, which would have caused a major threat to public health and social security in many countries.”

The office added” The Ministry of Interior, with all its departments, confirms its continued efforts to combat drugs and dry up their sources. The ministry calls on citizens to cooperate and report any information that may contribute to controlling such criminal activities. “
