Water Resources Ministry discusses means to improve water situation

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Water Resources in the caretaker government, Osama Abu Zeid discussed Monday with a number of humanitarian organizations ways to develop and improve the water situation and deliver water to beneficiaries.

The minister noted that the Ministry’s institutions and its directorates have begun to preparing plans to secure needs and determine priorities for water projects, which contributes to accelerating the delivery of water to all beneficiaries.

He stressed the Ministry’s constant readiness to cooperate with humanitarian organizations in preparing studies and plans.

Abu Zeid underlined the need for prioritizing strategic projects which achieve sustainability, such as solar energy projects, as well as emergency support projects by providing operating costs and carrying out the necessary maintenance for water facilities.

Abu Zeid said that the ministry’s priorities are to rehabilitate water stations and networks in cities, towns and villages which damaged has been caused to them by the attacks of the defunct regime and its criminal machine, which contributes to the return of displaced people to their houses after securing the necessities of life.

He appreciated the positions of humanitarian organizations and the rapid response to provide the necessary support to the Syrian people.

In turn, the organizations participating in the meeting welcomed the Ministry’s work plan for the coming period, stressing the need to hold similar meetings in order to raise the level of work and accelerate the rehabilitation and support of drinking water projects.
