Damascus, SANA – Al-Wahda won the Syrian Premier League Championship for 2013-2014 after defeating Al-Jaish 1-0 in a match held on Friday in Tishreen Stadium in Damascus.
The winning goal was scored at the 83 minute by Majed al-Hakk, earning the team’s its second Championship title following its win in the 2003-2004 season.
Despite failing to win the title, Al-Jaish maintains the record of Syrian Premier League Championships won at 12.
The game was mostly average in terms of technique, with both teams focusing on closing gaps in their defenses and keeping play in the midfield, with attacks being limited to low-threat long-distance shots.
