Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that it is important to prevent the failure of Russia-US agreements on Syria, calling for securing the cessation of hostilities and creating the conditions for the resumption of the political process.
RT website quoted Lavrov as saying in a speech on the occasion of the Islamic New Year that the strict implementation of the agreement could help in establishing efficient coordination in the fight against terrorism.

Earlier on Monday, Lavrov announced that the latest Russian-US agreements on Syria are in limbo due to the ambiguity of the US administration’s approach, adding that the lack of clarity in Washington’s stance towards the actions of the “Syrian opposition” hinders implementing these agreements.
In a press conference following his talks with Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhon in Moscow, Lavrov said that the Russian-US agreements are now in limbo because of the lack of clarity in the way Washington perceives the approaches of a number of opponents and because of the policy of a number of opposition groups and militants who reject those agreements or evade implementing them, adding that the re-implementation of the agreements requires the removal of all the ambiguity in this approach.
Lavrov described the recent statements made by US officials and the US steps towards Syria as inconsistent, calling on the US administration to abandon manipulation.
The Russian official said that the Russian side is seriously concerned about what is happening in Syria, how the UN Security Resolutions are carried out in their entirety and about some stakeholders’,-both inside and outside Syria- attempts to act contrary to the UN Security Council decisions.
Commenting on leaks from the meeting of the US Secretary of State John Kerry with a group of what is called by Washington as “moderate opposition in Syria” on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly in New York last week, Lavrov said the White House’s true position regarding the Syrian crisis is characterized by inconsistency, adding that Russia would like to remove any ambiguity.
He added that there is no need to issue official comments on these leaks.
Gatilov: West uses humanitarian file at every time Syrian Army achieves victories over terrorism
Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov affirmed that the West uses the humanitarian file at every time the Syrian Arab Army, supported by the Russian Air Force, achieves victories over terrorists in Syria.
“We are fully aware that they always play drama of the so-called humanitarian tragedies whenever the situation on the ground changes,” Gatilov said In a statement to SANA reporter in Moscow.
He added that Russia absolutely refuses using any humanitarian file exert pressure on Syria or Russia.
Gatilov called for solving the humanitarian issues in a positive way with the help of international concerned sides.
