Tehran, SANA – Iran’s Shura Council Assistant Speaker for international affairs Hussein Amir Abdollahian stressed that the Syrian people are the only side to decide the future of their country, reiterating Iran’s support for resolving the Syrian crisis through political means.
The remarks came during a reception ceremony for the Portuguese Ambassador to Tehran Mario Damas Nunes on the occasion of ending his diplomatic mission in Iran.
Abdollahian underlined the importance of continued consultations between the two countries, welcoming the formation of Tehran-Lisbon parliamentary friendship group in Iran in the near future.
For his part, Ambassador Nunes stressed the need to increase consultation between Portugal and Iran and exchange viewpoints on many issues, particularly the crisis in Syria.
