Terrorist groups breach cessation of hostilities 7 more times, 160 al-Nusra terrorists enter north Idleb from Turkey

Lattakia, SANA – Terrorist groups breached the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria seven times during the past 24 hours all in Damascus countryside, the Russian Coordination Center said.

The center, based in Hmeimim airbase, added in a statement on Wednesday that terrorists of the so-called Jaish al-Islam targeted military positions and a number of Damascus neighborhoods with mortar rounds.

The cessation of hostilities agreement, which came into effect in Syria since 27 February in implementation of UN Security Council resolution 2268, does not include Jabhat al-Nusra, ISIS and other groups listed by the UN as terrorist organizations.

The Russian center pointed out that Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists continue attempts to foil the agreement, as they shelled several towns in the countryside of Lattakia, Idleb, Hama and Damascus.

A group of Jabhat al-Nusra, comprising of 160 terrorists, has crossed Turkish-Syrian border in the north of Idleb province to reinforce terrorist groups in Aleppo, the Russian center said.

The center added that units of the Syrian Armed Forces continue thwarting Jabhat al-Nusra attempts to attack military positions in a number of Aleppo neighborhoods, pointing out that the terrorist shelling of the city is random and does not target only military positions but also residential neighborhoods, that claimed the lives of 23 civilians and injured 47 during the last 24 hours.

The cessation of hostilities agreement is holding in most Syrian areas, as the number of towns which have joined the agreement reached 139, the center concluded.
