Turkish army shells Aleppo northern countryside

Aleppo, SANA – The Turkish artillery fired shells at areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo on Thursday, in a new outrageous violation of the international law.

Local sources in Aleppo countryside said many artillery shells, fired from across the Turkish border, fell in a number of areas.

The Turkish attack was confirmed by some Turkish media outlets, which said the Turkish army’s artillery, positioned on the border line with Syria, shelled intermittently a number of areas in Aleppo northern countryside.

The shells landed in the surroundings of Azaz city and in Ein Daqneh village.

The Turkish artillery earlier shelled mountainous regions in the countryside of Lattakia and other positions in the northern countryside of Aleppo on February 13.

A few days later, during a session held upon Russia’s request to discuss the Turkish shelling of the Syrian lands, the Security Council demanded that Turkey respect the international law and expressed its concern over the Turkish acts, falling however far short of condemning the Turkish attack.

The Turkish government has been facilitating infiltration of terrorists into Syria since the very beginning of the crisis in 2011.

Late on Wednesday, at least 500 terrorists crossed Bab al-Salam border crossing, under the Turkish authorities’ supervision, heading towards Azaz city.
