EU Foreign Policy Chief: The EU will open center in Damascus for humanitarian aid delivery

Beirut, SANA – The European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini said the EU held recently talks with the Syrian government to agree on establishing a new European center in Damascus for humanitarian aid delivery.

Work at the center is expected to begin within the coming weeks.

In an interview with the Lebanese As-Safir newspaper published today, Mogherini added that the EU saw it would be useful at this stage to open this center in order to access difficult-to-reach areas.

She noted that opening this center was worked on last month, pointing out that opening new channels to deliver humanitarian aid is helpful not only for protecting lives but also for creating better potential conditions for the political dialogue.
