Daraa Governor discusses with ICRC ways to increase relief aid to Daraa province

Daraa, SANA- Daraa Governor Mohammad Khaled al-Hannous discussed with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) ways to increase humanitarian aid and services to families displaced by terrorism and enhancing and expanding cooperation between the two sides.

Al-Hannous said that Daraa Governorate is working within the resources available to provide relief assistance to the displaced families whose numbers exceed 80 000 families, pointing out the need to increase aid provided to Daraa.

He pointed out that 334318 food packages, 79 000 health packages and 176 000 flour bags were distributed to needy families since the beginning of the year.

Al-Hannous added that the armed terrorist organizations attacked the infrastructure in Daraa, especially private hospitals, schools and electricity sector and deliberately cut off water from residential gatherings.

For her part, Beatrice Oxley, deputy head of the International Committee of the Red Cross mission in Syria said that (ICRC) is seeking through following up the situation of water in Daraa to support this sector as they do with several other sectors within the framework of the humanitarian work for developing the locals’ situation.
