Damascus, SANA – President Bashar al-Assad said Syria appreciates the Iranian ideas put forth to solve the crisis in the country.
Speaking to Chairman of Iranian Shura Council’s Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security Alaeddin Boroujerdi in a meeting on Thursday, the President added that Iran’s keenness to help the Syrians in eliminating terrorism so that any political track can succeed is also valued.
All the efforts made by friendly countries for enhancing Syria’s steadfastness in the battle against terrorism, mainly those put by Iran and Russia that are highly valued, will bear fruit that will be yielded by all peoples of the region and the world, said President al-Assad.
The talks discussed the situation in Syria and the region and the positive developments made in the course of the fight against terrorism, especially upon the recent formation of the Syrian-Iranian-Russian-Iraqi front.
The significance of this front to the effect of eliminating the terrorist organizations that threaten the regional and international security and stability was emphasized.
Boroujerdi, for his part, reiterated the importance of the strategic relations between Syria and Iran and the latter’s keenness to further strengthen these relations.
Fighting terrorism in a way that preserves the national security of both countries is a major area of cooperation that Iran is keen to have it consolidated, according to the Iranian official.
Boroujerdi saw that having the Iranian and Syrian blood mixed in the course of fighting terrorists on the Syrian ground reflects the deep historical ties binding the peoples of the two countries.
He expressed Iran’s satisfaction at the progress made on the level of fighting terrorism after the formation of the quartet front, a progress he said has exposed the failure of the international coalition led by the US and the latter’s false claims about fighting terrorism.
