Foreign Ministry: Washington’s black record in human rights does not allow it to give lessons to countries

Damascus, SANA-Syria affirmed that the United States’ black record in the field of human rights does not allow it to accuse other countries, evaluate them, or give them lessons, calling on it to review and reverse its destructive policies, put an end to its violations of international law, and stop interfering in the affairs of other countries and destabilizing their security and stability.

“The US State Department recently issued its new shameful and misleading report on human rights in all countries of the world, as an attempt by successive US administrations to put itself as guardian of human rights around the world, and to cover up its own violations of human rights, the latest of which is the violent repression and silencing campaigns that targeted university students and professors demanding an end to the Israeli aggression on Gaza,” Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

The Ministry stressed that the United States’ black record in the field of human rights does not qualify it to accuse other countries, evaluate them, or give lessons, as its history is full of the most heinous forms of violations of human and peoples’ rights.

It added that the Syrian people have suffered and are still suffering as a result of the aggressive policies of successive American administrations, which were manifested by supporting terrorist organizations and militias, launching acts of aggression on Syrian territory, and the illegal presence of its forces on parts of Syrian territory, and its plundering of national resources, in addition to its imposition of inhumane coercive measures on the Syrian people.
