DPRK launches a new nuclear attack submarine

Pyongyang, SANA- The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) announced on Friday that it has launched a newly built tactical nuclear attack submarine capable of launching an underwater nuclear attack to enhance the country’s deterrence.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Democratic Korean President Kim Jong Un attended the inauguration ceremony of the new submarine, which was held on September 6, as he said that it is part of efforts to advance the Navy’s nuclear armament in the future.

Kim added in his speech, “The tactical nuclear attack submarine No. 841, named “Hero Kim Kun Ok”, which is the first of its kind, will fulfill its combat mission as one of the primary underwater offensive means of the naval force.

Kim stressed the importance of modernizing the armed forces, strengthening nuclear armament, and arming the navy with nuclear weapons.
