An exhibition of Indonesian handwoven at Al-Assad Library in Damascus

Damascus, SANA-The Indonesian Embassy in Damascus, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, organized an exhibition of Indonesian hand-wovens, and a graduation ceremony for students of the Indonesian language course, at Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.

In a speech during the ceremony, Indonesian Ambassador in Damascus Wajid Fauzi , affirmed his country’s desire to strengthen bilateral relations with Syria in various fields, especially cultural ones..

Fauzi indicated that the embassy launched years ago the annual program for the Bahasa language course to introduce the Syrian people to Indonesian culture from various aspects, pointing out that the “Tenon” handwoven exhibition, which lasts for four days, reflects the true picture of the history, culture and civilization of his country.

Culture Minister, Dr. Lubana Mashouh, said in her speech that the cultural activities kicked off , in a way to reflect the depth friendship and cooperation between both countries, seeking to increase the bonds of rapprochement between the two peoples for the common interest, adding that the work is underway to develop and deepen cooperation to include all aspects of cultural, literary, cinematic and visual arts .

She added that Syria and Indonesia have several mutual denominators, and an honorable history of joint struggle in Non-Aligned Movement for the sake of national independence, sovereignty and combating racism, occupation and colonialism in all its forms.

For his part, Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabaa, said in press conference that learning Indonesian language opens horizons in the fields of exchanging experiences, cultural and economic exchange for both countries, noting that the handicrafts exhibition is a kind of cultural and educational show that serves the relations of the two countries.
