Brazilian President declares federal security intervention due to riots in the capital

Brasilia, SANA- Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has condemned storming the Congress building, the Supreme Court and the presidential palace by supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro.

President da Silva signed a presidential decree allowing the intervention of federal security forces in Brasilia to restore law and order until the end of the month.

“These fascist fanatics have done something never before seen in this country’s history,” Da Silva, who is visiting the flood-hit city of Araraquara, said on his Twitter account.

“We will find out who these vandals are, and they will be brought down with the full force of the law,” he added.

The Brazilian President’s decree declaring a temporary state of emergency comes against the background of storming the National Congress building, the Planalto presidential palace, and the Supreme Court building by Bolsonaro’s supporters.
