Russian embassy in Canada: Ottawa ignores threats directed to Russian diplomats

Moscow, SANA-Russian embassy in Ottawa has accused the Canadian authorities of ignoring threats posed to the Russian diplomats presented on its lands.

Russian RT website quoted the embassy’s press service office as saying Wednesday that the diplomats continuously received since last February E-mails that include direct threats on killing them with their family members and destroying the embassy by using explosives.

“Despite our concern the Canadian authorities exert no efforts to preserve their and their families’ security,” the website added.

Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov said in a statement that unknown person threw on 21^st of last September a Molotov cocktail on the embassy building, adding that no casualties or damage were reported.

Stepanov stressed that the embassy considered the incident as an attempt to commit a terrorist act.
