Syria, UNICEF discuss cooperation in water sector

Damascus, SANA-Minister of Water Resources Dr. Kamal al-Sheikha discussed with Resident Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Syria Hanaa Singer possible cooperation and support in the water sector.

Dams are in need for technical equipment to ensure sustainability of their work amid economic sanctions against Syria, said the minister.

The minister underlined UNICEF’s vital role in supporting drinking water and sanitation sectors, stressing the necessity of cooperation with it in digging wells to ensure the access of water to residential concentrations in all areas.

Singer, for her part, signaled keen interest in cooperation with the ministry and in executing the proposed projects one project at a time.
