Syria calls on Security Council and UN Secretariat to condemn Israeli attacks on Syrian territory

Damascus, SANA- Syria called on the UN Security Council and UN Secretariat to condemn the Israeli attacks on the Syrian territory as a violation of sovereignty and a direct threat to regional and international peace and security, holding the occupation legal, moral, political and financial responsibilities for deliberately targeting the international airports of Damascus and Aleppo and for endangering civilian facilities and the lives of civilians.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a message addressed  to the UN Secretary-General and President of the Security Council “at approximately 20:00 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, August 31, 2022, “Israel” launched an air aggression on Aleppo International Airport resulted in severe damage to its runway and causing it to be out of service and completely destroying the navigational station with its equipment .

In its message, the Ministry affirmed “Syria draws the attention of the General Secretariat to the fact that this is not the first time the Israeli occupation forces have targeted public commercial and civil facilities or air and sea ports in Syria, endangering navigation, commercial and civil air and sea transport, as well as the lives and safety of civilians.

The ministry underscored that the Israeli occupation deliberately exposes Syrian airports and civilian aircraft in Syrian airspace to dangers.

The Foreign Ministry affirmed that “Syria preserves its full rights in holding the Israeli occupation accountable legally, morally, politically and financially for deliberately targeting the international airports of Damascus and Aleppo and causing all that sabotage and destruction.

Syria demands the security council and all those concerned in the UN Secretariat to condemn Israel’s aggressions and violations of the international law provisions.
