ST. PETERSBURG, SANA-Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko began talks marking the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in St. Petersburg on Saturday.
The Kremlin press service reported earlier that it was planned to discuss the pertinent issues of the further development of the bilateral relations of strategic partnership and alliance as well as the promotion of integration processes.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists that Lukashenko came to Russia earlier this week and held informal talks with Putin at the Zavidovo residence on June 23-24.
The Belarusian leader arrived in St. Petersburg on Friday and met with the city’s Governor Alexander Beglov. During the meeting, Lukashenko said that his talks with Putin would be “serious and on serious issues.” Previously, he said that he planned to discuss the situation in Ukraine with the Russian leader.
