Damascus, SANA, Patriarch of Antioch and all East for the Greek Orthodox on Thursday urged the world to stop the war against Syria.
Presiding a mass at the Mariamite Cathedral of Damascus on New Year’s day, Patriarch John X Yazigi said “My message to the whole world is to stop the war on Syria”, adding that..We reject to make our youths the fuel of a blind takfiri mentality and extremism.”
He stressed that “The Western civilization, which was lightened by our land’s Bible, owes it for history and culture not destruction and sedition”, praying that peace will prevail again in Syria and all kidnapped persons, including bishops John Ibrahim and Paul Yazigi, will return safe and sound to their relatives.
Patriarch Yazgi prayed to God to save Syria and President Bashar al-Assad and returns peace and security to the country.
