Three corpses found east of Palmyra, one believed to be for archeologist martyr al-Asa’ad

Homs, SANA- The competent authorities have found the corpses of three persons in Kahloul area, 10 km east of Palmyra in Homs eastern countryside, one of them is believed to be the corpse of archeologist martyr Khaled al-Asa’ad.

SANA’s reporter said that the competent authorities in Homs have found the corpses of three persons in Kahloul area, 10 km east of Palmyra, and it is believed that one of them is for archeologist martyr Khaled al-Asa’ad who had been executed by Daesh “ISIS” terrorist organization in the year 2015.

The reporter added that the identity of the corpses will be confirmed after conducting the DNA analysis.

Archaeologist Khaled al-Asa’ad was born in 1934, and he holds a BA in history from the University of Damascus. He participated in the excavations and restoration work in Palmyra with many foreign archaeological expeditions and contributed to the reconstruction of more than 400 entire columns of the long street corridors, the Temple of Baalshamin, the Temple of al-Lat, the columns, the platform and the amphitheater stairs.

Al-Asa’ad also discovered 700 silver coins in the ancient city of Palmyra, and he contributed to the discovery of an intact mosaic panel dating back to the third century A.D. He received the Syrian Order of Merit of the excellent degree and medals of merit from the republics of France, Bologna and Tunisia.
