Hasaka, SANA- Regional Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for the Middle East and North Africa, Edward Ted Chaiban, affirmed that the organization is looking with great concern at the water situation in Hasaka province due to cutting drinking water off the citizens of the city, clarifying that the organization will work to re-operate station and help secure drinking water for the citizens.
Chaiban, meeting Governor of Hasaka, Ghassan Khalil, said that UNICEF will work as an international humanitarian organization in cooperation with partners to communicate with the Turkish side to bring in electrical maintenance workshops to Allouk station to assess the electrical need in it and seek to operate the station and seek to increase cooperation in the field of securing drinking water for citizens and distributing it via tankers as a temporary solution.
In the field of education, Chaiban pointed out to the importance of providing the right of education for the citizens of the governorate and the child’s right to educational attainment, adding that efforts will be exerted to rehabilitate some schools to reduce the pressure in the classrooms.
For his part, Governor of Hasaka stressed the importance of the efforts exerted by the organization in support of government efforts to secure services for all the citizens of the province and the need to increase cooperation to overcome the difficulties that hinder the work of the educational, health and water sectors, which are a priority at the present time.
