Lavrov appoints a new special envoy for solving the crisis in Syria

Moscow , SANA- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia ,Sergey Lavrov, appointed Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Russian foreign ministry, Alexander Kinshchak, as a special envoy for solving the crisis in Syria.

“Russian Foreign Minister, Lavrov, assigned the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Russian foreign affairs ministry,Kinshchak,as a Special Envoy for settling the crisis in Syria,” Maria Zakharova ,Spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, said in a press conference on Thursday.

Zakharova added that Kinshchak’s authorities in his new mission will include representing the Russian side in supervising the bilateral and multilateral communications on settling the crisis in Syria within the Formula of Geneva and Astana ,with the aim of reaching a solution to the crisis in Syria.

Kinshchak served as the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department since 2018 after his return to Moscow from Syria. He served as an Ambassador of his country in Damascus Between 2014-2018 and, and before that he served at the Iraqi Capital of Baghdad.
