Hasaka, SANA-The Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Syria, Imran Reza , said that the problem of cutting drinking water off Hasaka city and its countryside is being discussed at the highest levels at the United Nations’ offices in New York and Geneva, adding that he is at a Permanent contact with the Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres, as well as the UN Special envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen in order to continue international pressure to return pumping Water to Hasaka city.
Reza, during a phone call with Hasaka Governer, Ghassan Khalil, said that the UN efforts are focused on two tracks; the first is a pumping water to the city as quickly as possible, and the second is to ensure sustainable solutions that end the suffering of citizens amid the crisis of water supply that has been repeated for 15th time Since October 2019.
Hasaka governor, for his part, affirmed that drinking water crisis in Hasaka is continuous in light of the Turkish occupier’s procrastination in re-pumping water from Alouk station.
