Damascus, SANA – Damascus Governorate and the University of Damascus signed a cooperation agreement for the rehabilitation of the Old City in Damascus and the preservation of its archeological, architectural, historical, cultural, and tourist monuments and buildings.
The agreement stipulates for working on a program for rehabilitating the Old City to improve living conditions, quality of the traditional buildings, and carrying out development projects in it, in addition to allowing architects working in the Governorate to apply for rehabilitation and specialization studies in the faculty of architecture to earn a Master’s degree in renovating historical buildings and rehabilitating archaeological and natural sites.
The agreement, signed at Anbar Office in the Old City, also stipulates for nominating projects by Old Damascus Directorate to be graduation projects for the students of the architecture faculty, in addition to overseeing and coordinating these projects by a joint committee.
