Damascus, SANA-The General Board of Damascus Hospital, al-Mujtahid, opened on Tuesday a new emergency department at a cost of more than SYP one billion and which can receive more than 1,200 daily patients.
The department includes 4 basic units; the surgical, internal, pediatric and intensive care. Emergency lab and x-ray units are added to the new department. The department can treat 42 patients at a time.
Minister of Health, Nizar Wehbe Yazigi, stressed that the new Department will provide its high quality services and free of charge.
Director of Damascus Hospital, Dr. Samer Khuder, indicated that the cost of the Department exceeded SYP one billion.
He added that the department adopts an automation system and patients’ turn of first-aid system while an emergency entrance for critical cases is available which is a new mechanism in Syria.
