Egypt, Cyprus and Greece underline necessity of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity

Cairo, SANA- Egypt, Cyprus and Greece have underlined the necessity of preserving Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, expressing deep concern over the Turkish aggression on the Syrian territories.

In a joint statement following a meeting between Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sissi,  President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Cairo on Tuesday,  the three states denounced any Turkish attempt to undermine Syria’s territorial integrity.

The three states also affirmed adherence to Syria’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing support for the international efforts to enhance the political solution to the crisis in Syria according to the Security Council’s resolution no. 2254 and Geneva communique.

They  voiced deep concern over the situation in Idleb in which thousands of terrorists spread and they receive help from certain parties which poses a common threat to the Mediterranean region.

The three states reaffirmed the necessity of enhancing  international efforts for combating terrorism and extremism, calling upon the international community for taking more measures in line with the international law against all the terrorist organizations, in addition to taking tangible measures for holding regional sponsors of terrorism accountable for supplying terrorists with arms and providing safe sanctuary and media outlets to them.

Earlier on the day, the Egyptian President reiterated the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
