Putin, Rouhani discuss situation in Syria, Iranian nuclear deal

Yerevan, SANA- Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani discussed the situation in Syria and the nuclear deal with Iran during a meeting at the Armenian capital city of Yerevan on Tuesday on the sidelines of the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

Russia  Today quoted the Kremlin as saying in a statement published on its website that Putin indicated that the meeting provided an opportunity for continuing talks between the two sides “on bilateral issues and the comprehensive joint work plan, and the nuclear deal as well as the situations in the region including the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic.”

“We meet with you and we work with each other regularly , and due to the dynamics  of the situation in the region and our bilateral relations, we have always what to talk about and what to discuss,” President Putin said during the meeting.

Putin hailed Iran’s membership at the Eurasian Council, affirming that it serves the interests of the two countries and comes in line with the basic principles of the international law and the provisions of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The Iranian President, for his part, indicated that the relations between the two countries have reached “an unprecedented level of frankness and openness.”

Rouhani described the nuclear deal as an effective example on the success of multilateral diplomacy in solving international issues.
