Prague, SANA- Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis called upon the European Union (EU) to communicate with the Syrian state in order to solve the crisis in Syria instead of imposing unilateral coercive measures against it.
In a statement on Tuesday on the talks which he had held in New York on the sidelines of the meetings of the UN General Assembly including his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem, Babis affirmed the importance of listening to all parties, noting that the EU has imposed unilateral corrective measures on Syria in a time when it should make contacts with it.
He added the Czech Republic is the only state from the EU members whose embassy has remained open in Damascus.
Earlier, during his meeting with Minister al-Moallem, Babis reiterated his country’s stance which calls for finding a political solution that restore security and stability to Syria and preserve its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
He indicated that the Czech Republic wants to make Europe more engaged in the solving the crisis in Syria and the region and to practice a positive role in that regard.
