Al-Jaafari: destructive use of Information technology by governments of some countries undermine security and economy in other states

New York, SANA-Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari,  warned of the destructive use of Information technology , communications and E-space by governments of some western and regional countries in order to undermine security, economy and societies in other states and intervene in their domestic affairs.

“Those countries, which develop their capabilities for the destructive usage of information technology and communications, imagine that they are safe and away from cyber-attacks, but the reality is contrary to this.. so, we affirm the need for having success in our discussions that aim to get an agreement on a legal context that oblige the member countries in this domain,” al-Jaafari added in a speech Tuesday to a UN meeting on the Developments in the Field of Information and Telecommunication in the Context of International Security.

He stressed that what happened in Syria was the biggest proof on the destructive behavior adopted by governments of western and regional states through hosting satellite channels that broadcast the Takfiri fatwas and call for destruction and killing.

“Syria believes in the serious, multi-sided work, so Syria was one of the countries that adopted resolution No. 27/73 which founded our team, a right step towards an important issue that has positive and negative impacts on prosperity, development, hope and international security,” al-Jaafari said.
