President al-Assad discusses with Borisov standing cooperation between Syria and Russia and the joint agreements signed

Damascus, SANA – President Bashar al-Assad on Saturday received Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov – also Chairman of the Joint Syrian-Russian Committee for Trade, Economy, Science and Technology Cooperation (on behalf of the Russian side).

The meeting dealt with the standing cooperation between the two countries in all fields and the signed agreements in the framework of the Joint Committee, particularly in the sectors of power, industry and trade exchange increase.

The Russian side reviewed the implementation stages of these agreements and the obstacles hindering their fulfillment, expressing relief over the steps taken by the two sides regarding the agreements, a matter that would push forwards relations between the two countries.

President al-Assad discussed with Borisov the feasible mechanisms for overcoming all the obstacles whether they are administrative or resulted from the sanctions imposed by the states enemies to the Syrian people, in addition to broadening cooperation prospects to cover new sectors in a way that serves the benefit of the two countries’ peoples.

Borisov pointed out to his country’s intention to continue to provide support to Syria until terrorism is eliminated and security and stability are restored to all its territories, in addition to its support to the country in the reconstruction process, pointing out that there is a firm Russian decision to stand by Syria’s side in the difficult circumstances caused by the economic and terror wars.

In the same context, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Walid al-Moallem met with Borisov and the accompanying delegation where the two sides discussed upgrading cooperation between the two countries in all spheres, particularly the economic side.

The viewpoints were identical with regards to the importance of enhancing the economic relations between the two countries in a way that goes in line with the political and military relations until reaching a strategic partnership between them in a way that benefits the joint interests of the two friendly peoples.
