Damascus, SANA- The Syrian General Organization of Book unveiled its executive plan for translation for the current year in the framework of National Project of Translation that was launched in 2017.
The Project seeks to translate about 200 books from 12 languages, including English, French, German, and Japanese, covering literary, intellectual and Scientifics topics.
Speaking during a press conference held at the Syrian General Organization of Book’s headquarter on Sunday, Head of the organization Thaer Zeinelddin indicated that the organization was able to complete large part of its plan over the past year, pointing out to the continued work of it in the current year to meet its target.
“The accuracy of translation side by side with a smooth writing style are pursued, as we depend on professional translators, especially the young in order to revive the movement of translation and provide books with an interesting and enjoyable flavor,” he continued to say.
For his part, Head of Translation Department in the Organization Houssam- Eddin Khaddour said that the executive plan for 2019 came according to the increasing societal need for books , so that books on biology , human sciences and public health have the largest part in the titles chosen , as they will contribute to raising awareness of the citizens Intellectually and scientifically , and providing the readers with what they look for in the world of literature in different cultures and criticism approaches .
Khaddour noted that the plan of the current year embraces all the bodies concerned in publishing in the country, including public and private publishing houses and the Union of Arab Writers.
He stressed that the translators who are doing the task are professional and able to pass accurate information to the Arabic reader.
