Shoygu: Tripartite aggression on Syria illegitimate, based on fabricated allegations

Beijing, SANA – Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu reaffirmed that the tripartite US-British-French aggression against Syria is illegitimate and was based on an alleged scenario about the use of chemical weapons in Douma city in eastern Ghouta.

Shoygu was speaking at the meeting of the Council of the Defense Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Beijing.

He stressed the need to prevent terrorists from acquiring and using weapons of mass destruction as provocations to spread chaos and mislead the international community about the reality of what is taking place in Syria.

“At present, all conditions are created for the revival of Syria as a united and indivisible state. However, in order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to make efforts not only for Russia but also for other members of the international community,” Shoygu added.

He warned that terrorists in Syria possess unmanned aerial vehicles capable of operating over a distance of 100 kilometers which poses a serious threat to densely populated areas, noting that the production of such vehicles is impossible without the technical assistance of developed countries.

Shoygu indicated that Daesh terrorists are moving to Central and Southeast Asia after having been defeated in Syria and Iraq.
