Putin: Claims on use of chemical weapons by Syrian army are fake news

Washington, SANA – Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the claims about the use of chemical weapons by Syrian army are fake and serve terrorists’ interests.

In an interview with NBC TV channel, Putin noted that Russia has trusted information about terrorists’ plans to fabricate chemical attacks and blame the Syrian Arab army in order to use them as a pretext for mobilizing international efforts against the Syrian government.

The Russian President criticized the UN probe into the use of chemical weapons in Syria which blames both sides, adding that the allegations that Russia is hindering investigations into the incidents of using chemical weapons in Syria are lies

He renewed Russia’s calls to conduct full-scale investigation into the chemical incidents and the US-led international coalition airstrikes on the Syrian Raqqa and the Iraqi city of Mosul; and hold the perpetrators accountable for their crimes.
