Screening of “Syrian Lelit” kicks off in Damascus

Damascus, SANA – The General Establishment for Cinema launched on Thursday the official special screening of the film “Syrian Lelit” at Dar Al Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus.

The feature film is written and directed by Ghassan Shamit and is based on a novel titled “Under the Moon” by author Juhayna al-Awwam.

The film talks about the Syrian society and its diversity within the framework of events taking place in a popular restaurant that includes an assortment of personalities which foster understanding and sincere affection among them despite the apparent differences between them.

The 120-minute film depicts the life of a Syrian family during the war as they move from a conservative rural environment due to terrorist attacks to a safe area in a city with more diversity.

“Syrian Lelit speaks about the seven-year crisis in Syria that left its negative effects on the Syrian people,” the director said, adding that one of these main problems is displacement due to terrorist acts, as people were forced to leave their homes to find safer places.

He added that Lelit symbolizes the Syrian woman who suffered a lot during this war and who deserves the best because she sums up the entirety of life.

The public screening of the film will kick off on Friday at Kindi Dummar and Kindi Damascus theaters.
