Nebenzya stresses need to prosecute those who provide support to Daesh terrorist organization

New York, SANA – Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzya, stressed that the Syrian Arab army, backed by Russian Aerospace Forces, eliminated a lot of Daesh terrorist organization’s hotbeds across the country and halted the supply of funds from states which support it.

Speaking at the UN Security Council session on counterterrorism, Nebenzya said that the current information and reports indicate that Daesh is seeking new funding source, adding that the terrorist organization used to receive USD 2 million from the illicit trade of oil and gas on monthly basis.

He warned of the rising terrorism threat to the Central Asia, adding that the UNSC resolutions provide for prosecuting and holding accountable those who provide direct or indirect support to Daesh and other terrorists.

China’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Wu Haitao, stressed the need to go ahead with counter-terrorism efforts to face the greatest threat of Daesh terrorist organization to the security and stability of all states.

He urged all parties to respect the sovereignty of states concerned and their efforts to fight terrorism on the basis the UN principles, calling for stopping those who attempt to spread extremist mentality through ignition, recruitment and funding via social networking sites.
