Damascus, SANA – A working meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, approved the participation of cooperative housing sector in rehabilitating unregulated housing areas.
The meeting also determined the basic features of participation of the syndicates of Engineers and Contractors and Cooperative Housing Union in the reconstruction of Syria in the coming post-war stage in accordance with the strategic vision that will play an active role in providing housing for citizens through the work of real estate development projects and the establishment of housing associations and work on the principle of competitiveness.
The main rules for the development of the working mechanism of trade unions have been set up to be effective in the next stage through the preparation of an advanced administrative and structural base in line with the requirements of this stage.
Syrian Engineers Syndicate includes about 50,000 members, while the Contractors Syndicate involves about 14,000 members, in addition to about 900,000 members in the Cooperative Housing Union.
