Damascus Countryside, SANA – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad affirmed that the real reasons behind the war waged on Syria were the achievements it had gained at local and regional arenas.
Mikdad made his remarks during a meeting with students at al-Baath Party’s Preparation School in al-Tal area in Damascus Countryside.
He said that the steadfastness of the Syrian Arab army, the sacrifices of the Syrian people and the support provided by friendly countries, particularly Russia, Iran and the Lebanese Resistance, foiled all schemes and states which bet on Syria’s collapse within weeks.
Regarding the political process in the country, Mikdad noted that every war has a beginning and it must end, adding “We are determined to struggle until final victory, achieve the goals of our people and the Nation and restore the Palestinians’ legitimate rights”.
Mikdad stressed that the Syrian state is going ahead with negotiations despite all attempts to empty the counterterrorism basket of its content, indicating that any solution which the Syrian government could agree upon will preserve its territorial integrity and the unity of its people.
He reiterated rejection of all allegations of using chemical weapons, adding that Syria has completely eliminated its chemical program.
