Syria, Lebanon to enhance cooperation in agricultural field

Damascus, SANA- Ways to enhance cooperation in the agricultural field to secure improved seeding, forest and fruit-bearing plants were discussed by Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Mohamed Hassan Qatna, Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Abbas Hajj Hassan.

During the meeting held on the sidelines of the quartet meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan, Qatna affirmed the ministry’s readiness to cooperate and send technical teams specialized in breeding improved seeds and the establishment for increasing the quantities of wheat seeds produced in Lebanon.

Qatna pointed out to the possibility of providing Lebanon with improved seeds after the improved varieties have been registered and provided.

Hajj Hassan noted the possibility of holding meetings to discuss the issue of transit in order to obtain positive results on the agricultural sector.

He pointed out that the memo signed establishes for a joint and integrated Arab action between the four countries and that it could expand for other Arab countries.
